The New Age Jains...very few good cops especially women but most others are regressive

Jainism  Yes...Jains are the new Jews.. we are the wealthiest, also the most hinduised, biggest block of educated imbeciles who practice untouchability vehemently, support far right BJP, host and fund RSS meetings, beef ban was entirely lobbied by Jains, we have sought minority status to start our exclusive schools, colleges and universities where you get admissions to competitive courses like engineering, medicine & business management no matter how meritless you are..then we own big corporations where you get jobs easily. We claim we are not hindus nor we believe in caste but we majorly vote for shades of saffron. Jains who boast of non-violence are biggest promoters of companies dealing in dairy, meat and leather industry. We may have banned cow slaughter but haven’t sought ban on slaughter of buffaloes who actually give more milk as well as beef. Its all about economics you see. Also the fact remains that jains from south although well-off were not necessarily hinduis

Understanding what divides us.

To be honest, me & and most people I interact with belong to the oppressor castes, the biggest oppression I face is brahminical capitalism although I have fallen in for quite a bit of consumerism, I tolerate this oppression by shaming brahminism but still yearn for that holiday in far away places, or buying the latest apple products. I feel guilt free by donating two cents of my salary to social causes, some weekend or two towards social work most of and most of my free time bashing the ‘brahminical capitalist’ status quo. Honestly me and my working class parents are the displaced lots although hailing from oppressor castes. We own no farmland because my dad’s dad lost it all to kickstart his political career which never took off. My dad during his early teens worked in grocery stores, hawked to sell salt till his sister got married to a person of another oppressor caste who then sponsored his diploma, made him an eligible bachelor, found him an educated bride, my mom working for

Lived reality & general disillusionment of youth in India

My savarna parents too had their share of difficulties with delayed salaries (my mom was not paid her salaries for 6 months in a row on couple of occasions), she had no maternity leave, she had sold sarees in trains as well as once home from her gruelling work schedule, hour long train commutes to work in extremely crowded trains, under-employment and had to single-handedly fund my education & home expenses. My dad has suffered redundancy on number of occasions but thanks to my mom he was never allowed to take refuge in alcohol or other addictions. My education in a private school was of pathetic standards & I magically started scoring good marks only after I joined private tuitions of my own school teachers. My school days were horrible because i was effeminate and was bullied at school and in my neighbourhood. I found refuge in art and pursued architecture with a big hope that arty people are not necessarily masculine but that assumption was far from reality. I was assumed ga

This is me writing at the age of 31, i have been once thrashed and paraded with torn clothes by hindu Rightwing Shiv Sainiks for taking an objection on an ugly larger than life poster of Bal Thackeray in my neighbourhood. Then once again thrashed by menacing hindoos for objecting to a stupid religious ritual which went all night long. I hereby want to declare that if I die/ get killed for a reason or another i want my dead body buried after all my organs are being put to medical use but it should not be touched by or used for a brahmin/ uppercaste (my parents included) / rich person. It should be put to use for any dalit/ adivasi/ transgender person only. If that is not possible then my body should be buried not cremated.  Regards, Mandar Mallappanavar

Political & Social Revolutions go hand-in-hand

Ambedkar explains that social & religious problems have a massive & limitless bearing on political constitutions.  The religious transformation by Luther who spearheaded American Independence & led the political emancipation of the european people did take clues from puritanism in England which had led to the establishment of political liberty.  Similarly, Prophet Muhammad had long led religious revolution which led to increasingly political transformation in Arab world. Political revolution led by Chandragupta was preceded by religious & social revolution of Buddha Political revolution led by Shivaji was preceded by the religious & social reform brought about by saints in Maharashtra.  Political revolution of Sikhs was preceded by the religious & social revolution led by Guru Nanak. Chapter 2.21-2.22 Annihilation of Caste by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Dalits from Bhagana kept asking for justice but settled for Islam

Bhanvar Meghvanshi, hails from the Indian state of Rajasthan and writes independently on issues pertaining to human rights Following is an attempt by me to translate his work from Hindi into English in context of the recent developments pertaining to Dalits of Bhagana Village who decided to convert to Islam. The choice of words are mine but are not solely approved of Bhanvar as yet. I have shared the translated content with him and waiting for his approval to let me retain this translation on my blog page. For almost 4 months they were boycotted by their village people, they were robbed off their livelihood and there was no end to their mental agony. They were not allowed access to public water sources nor allowed to use public loos, even the lone upper-caste doctor in their village refused to give them any medical care. They were not even allowed to dump away the dung of animals they reared nor were they allowed any land to bury their deceased cattle. The newly married grooms

FOLLOWING ARE THE LINES FROM THE OSCAR NOMINATED SONG FROM WALL E.... COMPOSED BY PETER GABRIEL Did you think that your feet had been bound By what gravity brings to the ground? Did you feel you were tricked By the future you picked? Well, come on down All those rules don’t apply When you’re high in the sky So, come on down Come on down We’re coming down to the ground There’s no better place to go We’ve got snow up on the mountains We’ve got rivers down below We’re coming down to the ground We hear the birds sing in the trees And the land will be looked after We send the seeds out in the breeze Did you think you’d escaped from routine By changing the script and the scene? Despite all you made of it You’re always afraid Of the change You’ve got a lot on your chest Well, you can come as my guest So come on down Come on down We’re coming down to the ground There’s no better place to go We’ve got snow up on the mountains We’ve got rivers down below We’re coming down to the ground We hear
